FALL FROM WHARF

ELDERLY MAN INJURED Losing his balance as he was dozing on the edge of Central Wharf yesterday afternoon, Mr. Walter Pierce fell over, striking the stern of the steamer Waipu, and then sliding into the water. Luckily, a waterside worker saw him fall, and immediately dived in to rescue him. He was carried out, and the St. John Ambulance, which had been hurriedly called, applied artificial respiration. He was then taken to the Auckland Hospital suffering from concussion of the bra.in and facial injuries. Mr. Pearce is an elderly man, .ivlng at 12 Codrington Street, Grey Lynn. His condition this morning is reported to be satisfactory.
