COMMUNISTS CHASED

SEDITIOUS SPEECHES AT ALDERSHOT REDS ROUGHLY HANDLED (United Service) LONDON, Sunday. Wild scenes occurred at Aldershot today. A motor-coach loaded with Communists, including a uniformed band of women and children, travelled down from London and began to hold an open-air meeting. The speakers seditiously attempted to spread discontent among the troops. Also they indulged in disparaging and disloyal remarks against Royalty. A crowd of 2,000 people—soldiers and civilians —-became incensed at the conduct of the Communists and dashed in upon them. The Communists scattered and the crowd chased them through the streets, severely handling several of them. These would have suffered more but for the fact that the assistant provost-marshal appealed to the infuriated crowd to cease the attack. This appeal succeeded and the Communists were able to take refuge in the police station. There they were kept for some hours and then were taken out by a ba,ck door. The police escorted them to the railway station, and the provost-marshal paid their fares back to London.
