NORTHCOTE COUNCIL AT CHURCH

OFFICIAL VISIT YESTERDAY The Mayor of Northcote, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, and members of the borough council attended divine service in St. John’s Anglican Church yesterday morning. Canon McFarland took for his text: “And I saw a new heaven and new earth.” After a most impressive sermon, Canon McFarland wished the Mayor and councillors a successful term of office. Canon McFarland also took the opportunity of thanking the members of the church for their voluntary service in painting the parish hall, and stated that in all his experience of 40 years in the ministry he had never been connected with a more energetic and church-loving vestry than that of last year. He was greatly strengthened in his efforts by having them reelected for another term.
