HOT CIVIC ISSUES
CHRISTCHURCH TROUBLES MEETING ON MONDAY (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Today. It is anticipated that Monday's meeting of the Christchurch City Council will he the longest of the year. In addition to discussions on the municipal milk supply and markets, the council will have to consider the situation which has been created by the Cathedral Square injunction. At the first meeting of the council Dr. H. T. J. Thacker, the independent | member holding the balance of power, I voted with the Labour Party, but as [ he is pledged against sterilised milk and the continuance of buildings in j the Square, it is considered that he j will vote against Labour. { On this question, however, opinion j is sharply divided, and a member of Citizen’s Association members are op- ! posed to the carrying out of the | Supreme Court injunction, holding | that new legislation should be sought j on the ground that what was a reserve j in 1877 is now the hub of a city.
