Today. < Finality has now been reached between the various bodies concerned in the proposals of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research for standardisation and the creation of standards. and the matter will be laid before the Government during next week. Two different sets ot proposals am embodied in tbe scheme, one the creation ot standard measuring units. St particularly tor electrical goods and power, the other the recognition ot 1 manufacturing standards and malnten- jl ance of a physics laboratory devoted 3 to experimental work to ensure that if these standards are held. One of the problems in the country m at the moment is the fact that them w is no standard meter tor measurement 1 of electrical power, and the approval f of the power boards has been given f to the department's proposals t a I rectify this.
