Sir, — The thermal station of Vichy, situ* ated right in the heart of France, belongs to the State. It is let to a conn pany which is working eleven springs, j some like Grande Grille, C£lestins and Hopital, being known all over th<J world. Vichy is a city of 20,000 inhabitants. It is five hours from Paris by rail. There are three expresses and one ‘ rapid” daily, and the cost of the sec-* ond-class ticket is only 18 shilling® If we except the great palaces, hotel fees at Vichy vary according to tha place, from 4s to 17s a day, everything included. The social side of life is verv* well catered for—casinos. band concerts every day in the gardens. golf, sporting club. pigeon shooting (June), polo (June and July), horse racing with 1,200,000 francs spent in prizes (June, July, August)* motor meetings (August). In 1028, 140,000 tourists visited the thermal regions of Vichy, of which 40,000 were foreigners and 2.000 doctors! The installations for baths, shower baths, physical culture, inhala- j t tions, massage, mecanotherapy, electrio ] and X-ray treatments, radiotherapy. ! etc. . . . are the last word in modern j scientific apparatus. Vichy waters are so active, when, taken at the springs, that patients are not allowed, on arrival, to drink more than a small quantity measured out m a graduated glass. ONE WHO HAS BENEFITED.
