MINISTER’S ASSURANCE DEVONPORT COUNCIL’S VIEW At its meeting last evening the Devonport Borough Council confirmed a recommendation of the council-in-committee that no further opposition be made to the erection of a war-gas chamber at the Devonport naval base. This was done on the assurance of the Minister of Defence, the Hon. T. Wilford, that there was no intention of using dangerous gases there. Seme members of the council expressed themselves as a little dubious about the extent of the Minister’s guarantee, but in the circumstances his assurance was accepted.
