MORRINSVILLE NOTES
\Y ord was received in Morrinsville on Sunday of the death of Mrs. Duncan Campbell at Rotorua Mrs. Campbell, who was a sister of Mrs. J. R. Xicol. of Te Aroha, was a former resident of Morrinsville.
A practically new saloon motor-car, driven by Mr. J. Robson, motor-garage proprietor, of Morrinsville, was badly damaged near Tatuanui. The car was being driven by Mr. Robson when it skidded in some shingle and turne.d completely over. Mr. Robson and a vouthful passenger escaped injury. The following have been elected members of tlie Tahuna Drainage Board; Central Ward, Mr. S. G. Abbott; Eastern Ward. Mr. W. C. Smythe; Northern Ward. Mr. H. K.. Whitechurch; River Ward. Mr. J. P. Jensen. A deputation of the Morrinsville Branch of the Xew Zealand Farmers’ Union and Messrs. E. R. Klingender and W. A. Rushton had waited upon tlie Thames Valley Power Board, protesting against the board’s proposal to install meters on farms, on the grounds that they would to the financial detriment of the small farmer. Mr. F. M. Strange (chairman of the board) assured the deputation that meters would not cost the consumers more than the flat-rate charge unless they wasted power The Morrinsville Hunt Club has been granted three meets for the present hunting season. The first hunt will be held next Wednesday, and the next on June 20. Twelve new members have been elected within the last week or so.
