EAST COAST ROADS IN BAD CONDITION RESULT OF RECENT STORM (From Our Oxen Correspondent) OPOTIKI, Today. ■ It is not anticipated that the Opotiki-Gisborne Road will not be I opened for over a week. Between Waikohu and Matawai the road is in a bad condition, as a result of the soaking it received from last week’s severe storm. Where new j work has been done on the road be- I tween Matawai and Otoko it is im- ; possible for cars to get through. With good weather at the present; time, the road is drying and repairs are being effected. In the event of further rains it will probably be a considerable time before car traffic ; can be resumed. Since the closing of the road a largo number of cars have been railed from and to Motuhora railhead, passengers by the service car also travelling by train where read conditions are bad.
