NEW MANAGER
N.Z. INSURANCE COMPANY APPOINTMENT MR. ARTHUR I. JOHNS In succession to the late Mr. H. P. Kissling, the directors of th# New Zealand Insurance Company have appointed Mr. Arthur I. Johns, chief inspector, to be general manager of the company. Mr. Kissling was to have retired at the end of this month, but this was forestalled by his death, so that Mr. Johns took up his new position this week. Mr. Johns was born in Nelson, and received his education at the Nelson College. On leaving school in 1893 he joined the New Zealand Insurance Company’s staff at Nelson, and in 1898 was appointed chief clerk in Wanganui. In 1905 he was transferred to Auckland, and eventually became chief clerk. In 1917 Mr. Johns accepted the position of general manager for the Domin ion of the British Traders’ and Union of Canton Insurance Companies, and opened offices in the chief centres of New Zealand. In 1918 Mr. Johns rejoined the New Zealand Insurance Company as chief inspector, and has retained that office till liis present appointment. In 1906 he qualified as an accountant, passing the Institute of Accountants, and th© Accountants’ and Auditors’ Association examinations.
