BRITISH RUGBY TOUR
AUCKLAND UNION TO MEET MR. DEAN MR. H. FROST REPORTS Although the visit of the British Rugby team next season may seem a long way off yet, the Auckland Rugby Union is already making a start on preparations for the matches to be played in Auckland. Mr. H. Frost, reporting to the Management Committee of the union last evening on the recent conference at Wellington referred to this. He said that discussing next season’s prospects with the Auckland delegates. Mr. Dean had said that he would probably be passing through Auckland on his’way back from Australia next month, and that he would then confer with the Management Committee of thm Auckland Union regarding that and other questions relating to the British tour. An appeal for financial assistance in fostering Rugby among the primary schools in Auckland had also been made to the new executive by Mr. Frost, and the report stated that tl delegate had referred to the fact that Auckland was spending £2OO or £ 30" to that end. The usual grant of £SOO had been made by the central body. A magnificent trophy to be competed for by the senior teams of Taupiri Union was described by Mr. Frost. It was his opinion that the trophy, which had been handed over by the New Zealand Union, would do much to maintain interest in the Rugby competition in the coalfields. The delegates’ report summarised the main decisions of the conference as they have already been reported in The Sun. On the motion of Mr. A. Tilly, the delegates. Messrs. Frost and A. St. c. Belcher, were congratulated on tiv preparation of a concise and informative report.
