ROBERT BURNS WAS UNKNOWN TO J.P’S
Unlike his historic namesake, Robert Burns is not world-famous; in fact, at Otahuhu he is almost unknown. When charged with vagrancy at the Otahuhu Police Court before Messrs. G. W. Venables and C. His plea fell on sympathetic ears, and he was given 24 hours in -which to quit the district. The charge-sheet was filled in and signed, but before the ink was drv, a telephone message was received front the Central Police Station advising that Burns had 44 previous convictions against him.
While the Bench was recovering' from the shock, Robert Burns hastened away to fresh, woods and pastures rjew.
