PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Pukekohe Borougli Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. John Routly, presiding. In reply to the application for a £ 2 for £ 1 subsidy toward the improvement of the Pukekohe to GlenMurray main highway, the Public Works Department advised that the Main Highways Board could not grant a larger subsidy than £1 for £l. A donation of £ 3 3s was voted to the Franklin District Court Committee. Advice was received from the Auckland Hospital Board to the effect that the council’s levy for the current vear totalled £1,015 10s. Cr. P. A. Miller was appointed to the Waterworks and Works Committees. Formal resolutions were passed for sanction to .raise a loan of £ 6,000 for the widening of the bitumen surface on several main roads and the forming of additional footpaths.
