LAND AGENT’S LICENCE
UNSATISFACTORY REPORT APPLICATION ADJOURNED (From Own Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Friday. When Ivelso Peat Jipplied for a land agent’s licence at the Te Awamutu Court on Friday, the magistrate. Mr. Wyvern Wilson, said he did not like the police report. He said that five people had vouched for the character of Peat, but the police report showed .that he had been convicted for trespass on the racecourse at Te Kuiti. These matters had an important bearing on the application. Mr. Oliphant said the theft at Matamata was the result of sudden temptation. and related to some cases of benzine. Constable Hooker said he had known Peat for the past five years, and he knew nothing against him apart from that mentioned in the report. The magistrate remarked that the offence at Te Kuiti was reallv the result of the conviction at Matamata. and he would require further details of this. The application would be adjourned to b© dealt with at Hamilton.
