OPOTIKI BOROUGH COUNCIL

A special meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council was held on Thursday night when the Mayor and councillors made the usual statutory declaration. In the absence of Cr. Burrett the matter of appointing a DeputyMayor was held over for the first ordinary meeting of the new council. The Mayor’s honorarium was fixed at £25. The following committees were appointed:—Works Committee, Crs. W. 3urrett, S. Shalfoon and J. Main: Finance Committee, Crs. J. T. Tabb and F. J. Short; Waterworks, Reserves and Sanitary, Crs. H. M. Budd, T. Hitchens and S. Shalfoon. It was decided to accept an invitation to attend a civic service at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. Cr. T. Hitchens was appointed as delegate to represent the council at the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Development League, to be held at Rotorua on May 31.
