GREAT FUNERAL IN CHINA
BURIAL OF SUN YAT-SEN, DEAD THREE YEARS ROAD CUT THROUGH CITY (Australian, and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.44 a.m. SHANGHAI, Thurs. Plans are in hand for the State funeral of the late Dr. Sun Yat Sen, China’s revolutionary leader, who died three years ago at Tientsin. His remains have been preserved in order that they may be deposited in the special mausoleum on the Purple Mountain at Nanking, which is almost completed. An announcement from the capital states that the burial is scheduled to take place on June 1. ft will conclude with probably the most elaborate funeral ceremonies ever-beheld i;i the Far East, lasting a week. A special road has been cut through tbe heart of Nanking for the purposes of the funeral procession, the Government ruthlessly demolishing thousands of native homes without compensation.
