COUNCILLOR RESIGNS FROM COMMITTEE OBJECTION TO CHANGES (From Our Oxen Correspondent) WHANGAREI, To-day. There was a breezs at the meeting of the Wliangarei Borough Council last evening when the new Mayor, Mr. \V. Jones submitted the new committees. Cr. A. H. Curtis strongly objected to the change from being chairman of the Electrical Committee to a similar position on the Town Hall Committee. He objected also to the new chairman of the Electrical Committee, Cr. Pickmere having been consulted as to his appointment, whereas nothing had been said to him about the change. Consequently, he moved an amendment to the Mayor’s nomination, which was lost. He then announced that he positively declined to serve as chairman of the Town Hail Committee, and invited the Mayor to accept his resignation from it.
