PULLING TOGETHER
MR. RUSH#ORTH FETED (Prom Our Own Correspondent) KAITAIA, Today. Mr. H. M. Rushworth, the new member for the Bay of Islands, was the guest of honour at a social evening at Kaitaia on Thursday. The large concourse of residents represented all shades of political feeling, and showed that the hatchet had been buried for the time being. Principal speakers were Mr. Allen Bell, ex-member, Mr. J. T. B. Taaffe, chairman of the Kaitaia Town Board, and Mr. T. S. Houston, chairman of the Hospital Board. Mr. C. B. Michie presided over the social which was arranged so that Mr. Rushworth met most of the residents. Speakers welcomed Mr. Rushworth to Kaitaia and expressed hopes for his future Parliamentary success. Mr. Bell said that, although he w r as licked, he was more than willing to co-operate with Mr. Rushworth in furthering the progress of the grand Northland. Mr. Rushworth, responding, tlfanked all speakers and stated that, in th*> interests of the electorate, all would pull together and 'let bygones be bygones. He accepted Mr. Bell’s offer with deepest gratitude. His sole ambition was to leave the electorate better than what he found it.
