"Because these sums are placed on the estimates, councillors must not think that they are final,” remarked the Mayor, referring to the Parks Committee estimates. Cr. E. J. Phelan: You will have a job to get them off, all the same! Owing to absence in Wellington yesterday, Cr. T. Bloodworth was not installed at noon yesterday with other councillors. He made his declaration last evening. Cr. W. L. Casey is still ill. The city’s share of maintenance for the Auckland Museum for the year ending March 31,-1930, will be £2,511. The council will in future be represented on the Museum Council by the Mayor and Crs. A. J. Entrican, E. J. Phelan and G. Brownlee. * * * "The finest and most enthusiastic meeting Auckland has ever seen.”— Cr. J. R. Lundon’s opinion of his meeting at the Town Hall on Monday evening last, when the crowd was so boisterous that the police were called three times to restore order. * * * The Hospital Board has advised that the levy payable by the city for the financial year ending March 31, 1930, is £51.723. "This is a reduction of about £1,500 on last year’s asssessment.” said the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon. * * * The wide discrepancy between the provisional count and the official count of municipal votes worried Cr. T. Bloodworth, and he asked the Mayor to explain. The Mayor: A parcel of votes went astray; tlpiy must have been yours.” (Laughter.) In response to Cr. Bloodworth’s sickly smile, the Mayor added cheerfully: "Oh, they were not Mayoral election votes!” * * # "Who’s coming to church on Sunday!” suddenly asked the Mayor toward the close of the council meeting. His invitation was to the customary gathering of councillors at church on the first Sunday after an election. To the Mayor’s mild surprise, a big majority of councillors held up their hands.
