NEW TERM STARTED
MT. ALBERT BOROUGH COUNCIL MEMBERS SWORN IN In welcoming old and new members j at the first meeting of the term of the j Mount Albert Borough Council last evening, the Mayor. Mr. L. E. Rhodes, said that the next two years would be . important in the borough, and stressed upon the councillors the responsibility of their position. After the Mayor had taken the oath the councillors were sworn in. The ' members of the council are: Messrs. W. Russell, B. Brigham, J. IT. Langley, j A. A. Buckley, J. Taylor, IT. L. Kayes (re-elected), and Messrs. W. D. Fulton and G. E. Carr (new members). The Mayor said that now Mount Albert was definitely the largest borough in New* Zealand. Mount Eden had been the largest, borough, but now* Mount Albert was largest by 250 people. There was much work to be done, continued the Mayor. The council was right in the middle of a large programme of comprehensive works, including extensive sewerage and also permanent construction of streets. The question of the electors' roll needed consideration, said the speaker, and he would recommend to the council that during the present term of office a new roll be made, as the old roll could not be purged. On the present roll appeared names of people who had left the district years ago, and there were hundreds of other people in the district who were not on the roll. Mr. Brigham was appointed DeputyMayor, and the various sub-commit-tees were elected. Only urgent business was dealt I with, and the meeting adjourned until ! next Tuesday.
