NEW LYNN TRANSPORT
INCLUSION IN BOARD NOT NECESSARY NEW COUNCIL’S DECISION New Lynn has now terminated its overtures to the Transport Board to be included in the board’s district. The decision was reached at the first meeting of the New Lynn Borough Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr. C. F. Gardner, said he understood the late Town Board had applied to the Transport Board for inclusion, but as a licence had been granted for private enterprise to provide transport in the district for the next five 3 r ears, he did not consider any good purpose would be served by bringing New Lynn under the Transport Board. It was decided to withdraw the application. A long discussion took place regarding the proposed new bridge over the Whau Creek and the continued delay in commencing the structure. The Mayor was requested to use his best endeavours to have the work expedited. Mr. Greenslade tendered his resignation as town clerk on account of ill-health. A tribute to his work was paid bj r the council. Mr. Greenslade’s assistant, Mr. Reich, was appointed acting-town clerk, a permanent officer to be selected later.
