WORK AT WANGANUI INTERESTING TRIALS (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Tuesday. The Wanganui tracks are in splendid order just noxv and promise to be almost perfect for the steeplechase meeting next week. This morning the weather xvas line and a fair amount of work xvas done in preparation for the Egmont and other meetings. Alloy and Gasform were associated in a good working gallop over five furlongs in 1.6 2-5 without being extended. Thaw and Zarene, separately, were given useful work. Whenuatonga went half a mile by himself, hitting out freely. The Acre gelding appears to be improving. Pomp and Drastic, two of Mr. G. Currie’s youngsters, were given a couple of rounds and sprinted up the straight. Both moved nicely, and are xvell forward. The South Islanders, Booster and Black Duke, who are both engaged at Haxvera, were companions in a spin over five furlongs, xvhich they cut out in 1.3 1-5. Both hit out well and are evidently In good fettle. SOUTHERNER SCHOOLS Kapuna (Anderson) xvas given a round over the big fences, jumping in good style. He is engaged in the HackSteeplechase at Haxvera and he is in nice condition to begin the jumping campaign.
Overhaul (Anderson) pleased by the way he negotiated fixe hurdles, showing himself to be a quick, clean jumper.
