MORE BUTTER EXPORTED
FIGURES FOR NINE MONTHS Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The Dairy Division grading figures for the nine months ending in April show an increase for butter of 10 per cent., at 76,200 tons, and for cheese an increase of 14.7 per cent., at 78,875 tons, as compared with the corresponding period of the preceding season. Reduced to terms of butter-fat equivalent, the gradings of dairy produce for the nine months show an increase of 11.56 per cent, over the gradings for the corresponding period of the previous season. MINING NEWS HAURAKI CONSOLIDATED —i The 1 manager reports: ‘’Overhaul and repairs to the battery have been completed and j a working trial of the machinery was | made last week. A few minor adjustments, are being made to-day, and it is j expected to start crushing on Tuesday. I The cutting out of the winze chamber ! at the junction of the Union Beach cross j reef with the Stockwood reef, at the j 400 ft level, is completed, and the last chamber sets of timbers are being placed jin position to-day. The stoping block on | the Stockwood reef is ready for working j the timbers and passes are in place, and i some of the reef has been stripped ready | for breaking-down as soon as the leve'l jis clear at the winze chamber. Driving seaward will be resumed at the [ earliest opportunity, which will probably be this week. No men were available for unwatering the new portion of the shaft below the 400 ft level last week, hut expect to have it going again shortly. The securing of the rise connection between the 400 ft level and the drive from the Tangve winze will be finished this week. The No. 2 boiler, which has been out of running for the installation of new furnaces and repairs, is nearing completion; this will ensure) plenty of steam for winter.
