FIRE FEARED ON SHIP
DEVON DELAYED IN SOUTH COAL HEATED IN BUNKERS N \ Press Association DUNEDIN, Monday. It was discovered this afternoon that the coal in th© bunkers of the steamer Devon, at Port Chalmers, had become heated, and th© work of discharging the bunkers was at once commenced. Operations axe being continued throughout the night and sufficient coal will be removed by the morning to disclose whether it is actually on fire or not. The Devon was expected to be ready t.o leave Port Chalmers to-morrow*, but the unexpected heating of the coal will mean a delay of a day or two at least, and possibly longer if it proves to be on Are.
