LOYAL WORKERS GRIMLY ASSAULTED

TOTAL BROUGHT TO 49 Reed. 9.15 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Further brutal assaults on loyal timber workers in the past few days have swelled the total of those attacked to 49. Last night In a savage assault at Petersham two men were knocked to the ground and kicked in the face, head and body. Their assailants made off in a waiting car. The men were taken to hospital, covered with blood and suffering from concussion. Mr. Corke, the timber merchants’ secretary, stated that the timber merchants will not meet Mr. Jock Garden, Mr. Kavanagh and Mr. Reeves, leaders of the Disputes Committee, in conference.
