Transport Board Loses Chairman
MR. ALLUM RESIGNS FEELS IT HIS DUTY lu view of liis defeat iu the City Council election, Mr. J. A. C. Ailtlill, ft representative of the late eouucfl on rlie Transport Board and its chairman, has decided to resign. Be forwarded a letter late yesterday afternoon to the Mayor, Mr. George Baildou, stating his intention. Mr. Allum said: In view of the result of Wednesday’s poll, I think it is nty duty to resign my seat on the Transport Board. My personal inclination is to resign at once, but I feel that at this juncture such a step might embarrass the hoard and this I am anxious at all costs to prevent. I am accordinglv enclosing my resigna t.ion with this letter and I desire to leave myself unreservedly in ilie hands of the council. “I have nothing to say on the matter at the moment," Mr. Baildon stated when invited to comment, “except that I am very disappointed that Mr. Allum has not been re-elected to the council. The value of his work on the council and on the Transport Board apparently has not been recognised as it should have been in some districts.” Mr. Baildon said he would briug Mr. Allum's resiguation before the council at its first meeting next Thursday.
