THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY
COMPANY ACTIVITIES A steady increase in the output of butter Is being maintained at the Port Albert factory. During April approximately 10 tons were made, compared with 5J tons in. April, 1928. Up to the end of April 230 tons 13cwt. have been made this season, compared with 172 tons scwt last season. There is plenty of feed in the district and, as a large amount of hay and ensilage were made this summer, the cows should go through the winter in good condition. The excellent dairying season experienced is reflected in the returns of the Northern Wairoa Co-operative Dairy Company for the month of April, and the season to date. In April, the butter manufactured was 1404 tons, as compared with 1244 tons in April, 1928. For the 11 months of the present season to date the total is 2,1351 tons, as against 1,904 tons for the same period of last season. The total, for last season of May 31 was 1,9844 tons, so that the output to date is well in advance of that for the full season of 3 927-28. With a month to go the output should easily reach 2,200 tons. *
