PHIL SCOTT WINS WELL
GERMAN CHAMPION BEATEN ON POINTS
GAME TO LAST, BUT CRUDE
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Friday.
Phil Scott, the British heavy-weight boxing champion, won on points against Ludwig Haymann, the German champion, in a bout of 15 rounds. Haymann, who lacked ringcraft, received heavy punishment. He was game to the last, but crude. Scott always seemed to be the better boxer, but although he seemed to have the German at his mercy he did not attempt to force matters and boxed coolly to the end.
In a bout of 15 rounds for the British light-weight championship a former amateur. Fred Webster, defeated the title-holder, Sam Steward, on points.
