AMERICAN VIEW OF TARIFFS FOREIGN COMMUNICATIONS (Muttra 7 ,tail and N.Z. Press Association) WASHINGTON, Wednesday. Mr. W. C. Hawley, chairman of the J’aya and Means Committee of the House of Representatives, referred tolay to a statement made by Mr. C. H. Calan, a member of the Canadian -arliameat, to the effect that Canada ®|glit be forced to make reprisals if tbs American tariff were raised. He i»tu his committee had scrutinised communications from foreign counties but the tariff was regarded as •tonestic question, to be settled by “• United States alone.
