HUNTLY TOWN BOARD
(From Our Own Correspondent) HUNTLY, Wednesday. The ordinary meeting of the Huntly Town Board was held last evening. Miss Jessie Allan was appointed temporary pianist. Three building permits were granted. Miss Alma Ward wrote signifying the Plunket Society’s willingness to bear 50 per cent, of minor alterations to the Plunket room at the Town Hall. Mi;. E. V. Blake, surveyor, advised that the Taupiri Coal Company approved of the plans for the extension of Bailey Street to Ivimihia Road, and the work would be put in hand forthwith. Mr. George, the chairman, expressed the opinion that the present building regulations in Huntly were too drastic, and were impeding building progress, and the by-laws would be gone into at a special meeting with a view to improving the situation. Sir Joseph Ward has found it impos sible to pay Huntly a visit next month owing to Parliamentary business, but has expressed a wish to visit the mining area after the session.
