AGAINST "ROAD HOG”
MAGISTRATE’S CAMPAIGN WILL CANCEL LICENCES Frsss •Assix'iottort HASTINGS, 'Wednesday. "I have in mind the endorsement of drivers' licences in cases dealing: with negligent and dangerous driving and speeding.” said the magistrate. Mr. A. M. Mowlem, at the Hastings Court this morning when he issued a warning to a certain section of the motoring community. "I think the time has long since gone when a mere tine bad any effect. It would seem that some men don't think their licences are of value, or they' wouldn't jeopardise them as they do. “I want to make it perfectly clear that I will, so far as I am able, protect everyone —pedestrians, motorists and cyclists alike. I am of the opinion that quite a number of motorists think that, so long as they are in a car. they can do what they like, and that they can make the car travel along at high speeds and be in the right. They can do no snch thing. In future I am considering the endorsement and even the cancellation of licences. “I know it will be a hard job. but I hope to do away with the man who earns the unenviable reputation among his fellow men of being a ‘road hog. You know now where the Bench stands."
