APRIL WEATHER
MORE THAN AVERAGE SUNSHINE The month of April, as far as the weather was concerned in Auckland, was very unsettled although bright •sunshine was over the average, the rainfall however was 85 points above the average. Electrical disturbances were a marked feature for the month, thunder occurring on six days. A severe cyclone passed southward of Auckland on April 29. Temperatures were generally mild, the mean temperature being 66 degrees and the mean minimum temperature 55 degrees. The extreme maximum temperature was 74 degrees on April 13 and the mean minimum temperature was 46 degrees on April 7. The period of bright sunshine totalled 169 hours 20 minutes. There was a considerable range in the barometer, the highest reading being 30.30 in. and the lowest 29.10 in. According to observations taken in Albert Park. 4.62 in. of rain fell up to 9 a.m. to-day. This is .Ssin. above the month’s average, although I.9in. lower than the abnormally heavy rainfall in March. It is not infrequent for April rains to be less copious than those of March. The rainfall for the first four months of the year aggregated 12.14 in., an increase of 2.07 in. on the corresponding period of last year, but lower than in 1927.
