MISSING TEN POUNDS
DARGAVILLE EXPLAINS PART OF 1922 FUND The Auckland Education Board, at its meeting this morning, received a letter from the newlyelected School Committee at Dargaville, asking for the return of the books of the former committee at present in the hands of the board. r PUE letter stated that on investigalion being made into the £lO donation said to have been received from Mr. C. Williams, on which a £lO subsidy had been received, it was discovered that the secretary bad made a mistake in stating that this amount had been donated by Mr. Williams in March, 1928, It represented part of the larger amount of money collected in 1922 from Dargaville citizens, and held in trust for High Bcliool improvements. The letter assured board that the committee wished to work harmoniously with the board, and regretted the misunderstanding that had occurred. Mr. A. Burns stated that the committee elected was practically the same as the one which had resigned last; year. As there still seemed to be complications in the accounts, Mr. James Bod'tlio moved that Mi*. B. Hoe and Mrs. V. Donaldson, representatives of tlie north ward on the board, be appointed a sub-committee to investigate the position at Dargaville. After considerable discussion the board decided to defer the question till the next meeting of the board, pending further investigations. The commissioner appointed by the board when the committee resigned last year, Mrs. M. Gregory, forwarded a report for her term of office. On th© motion of Mr. Burns the board decided to thank Mrs. Gregory for the work she had done.
