“THIRTY MIGHTY MEN”
DAVID’S FOLLOWING At least three of the Mayoral candidates in Auckland have been Improving their knowledge of the Scriptures during the campaign. Mr. H. E. Vaile had something further to say about them last evening at Remuera. Mr. Blood worth, another candidate, had referred to himself as David and to Mr. Vaile as Goliath. This Mr. Vaile found difficult to understand. “I am pleased to think I am considered such a formidable giant that anyone should wish to throw stones at me,” he said, “but I will be satisfied so ' long as Mr. Bloodworth refrains from throwing mud at me. (Laughter.) “Just what resemblance Mr. Bloodworth bears to that illustrious Jewish stripling, David, I cannot imagine; but. I think we will secure some enlightenment in the second book of Samuel, where we are told that David had only 30 mighty men to support him. “Mr. Bloodworth will need more than |3O mighty men to support him on | Wednesday.”
