MUNICIPAL BAND AT ZOO

An interesting and tuneful musical programme will be played by the Municipal Band at the Zoological Park tomorrow (Sunday), afternoon at three* o’clock. The popular overture, “The Caliph of Bagdad” will be given by request. Selections from Sullivan’s “H.M.S. Pinafore” and Leo Fall’s “Madame Pompadour,” and the characteristic intermezzo “From a Russian Village,” are also on the programme. These will be supplemented with instrumental solos by Messrs. Purchase and McLennan, and stirring marches and hymn tunes. Gladys Belmont, an unknown “extra” girl, was selected from 400 applicants for the role of the Indian girl in Richard Dix’s latest Paramount picture, “Redskin.” The production has been filmed entirely in natural colours, amid some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
