REWARD FOR BRAVERY 1
£2.300 FOR GIRL WHO SAVED FARMER’S LIFE RUNAWAY HORSE STOPPED Miss Megan Lewis, aged 17. of Llanrwst, North Wales, has been left £2,300 by a farmer whose runaway horse she stopped on a hill some years ago, saving his life. The farmer was Mr. George William Tinsley, aged SI, of Pennant, Llam-wst. Miss Lewis, a girl with blue eyes and bobbed fair hair, said: “I was only nine at the time. I saw a horse galloping madly toward me down a short decline, with the man hanging head downwards, and with one foot caught in the stirrup. Being used to horses, I was not the least frightened, and did not hesitate. i stood in the middle of the road, raised my hands, and shouted with all ruy might to frighten the horse. It swerved, and in doing so caused the man’s foot to be released, and he fell unconscious. I- ran fo-r • help to a nearby farm, and, still unconscious, Mr. Tinsley was later taken home on a cart. He later gave me a gold watch. He has always sent me presents at Christmas, and during the holidays he took me for motor drives. When I was at home I was a regular visitor to Pennant, and during the term he always wrote to me. Mr. Tinsley told me that after his death I would be well provided for, but never stated the amount.
