TO-MORROW’S SOCCER

An Attractive Programme

SHORE V. PONSONBY

THE Soccei 1 code will be in full swing to-morrow when the' second series of the senior championships will be played and the lower grades will all start their competitions. The principal attraction will be at Blandford Park where Ponsonby and Shore meet after an attractive curtain-raiser between Bon Accord and Rangers. Onehunga meets Thistle on its home ground, while the matches between Trams and Belmont and Y.M.C.A. and Celtic should be full of interest.

r PHE games set down for decision at Blandford Park should both prove close and exciting contests. In the opening match both Bon Accord and Rengers made strong claims for senior status this season, and the debut of the . new Scottish combination is awaited with interest. It has recruited a number of seasoned and experienced players, but Rangers were a hefty team of colts last year and thev should Put up a big battle for the points. Both Shore and Ponsonby won- their games last Saturday by a . comfortable margin, and both teams have introduced a strong infusion of fresh blood from their junior grades. These clever colts with a backing of experienced players should make ideal combinations for providing better and brighter Soccer. Onehunga will open its home season by entertaining Thistle, and as the Manukau combination is about a twogoal better team on its native heather the visiting Scots will have to put their best foot forward to win. Trams appear to carry too many guns for Belmont, but the North, .Devonport lads are a fearless lot of eolts with but little respect for age and reputation. A lively go should find the transporters continue on their winning way. Y.M.C.A. and Celtic should be a most interesting clash, and on the opening day’s form the Young Men hold a strong winning chance with its dashing young exponents, but the Celtic enthusiasts are confident that last week’s display was far below the teams’ true form.
