SUSPENSION STANDS

MANUKAU PLAYER STILL ON LINE According to a report received at last evening’s meeting of the Rugby Union Management Committee, the Judicial Board cannot see its way to lift the suspension of Albon a Manukau winger who was ordered off last season during a match between his club and College Rifles. Mr. H. Frost and Mr. A. St. C. Belsliaw were appointed Auckland delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union meeting to be held at Wellington next month. Ponsonby was granted permission to withdraw from the Senior B competition. Mr. Nicholson explained that the club could not find sufficient players to maintain the team. It was decided to suggest to the Referees’ Association that Mr. Arthur Pauli be appointed outside member for the Referees’ Appointment Board. The Junior Management Board reported. that officials had been appointed as follow: Member on the Management Committee, Mr. A. Tilly; Grounds Appointment Committee, Messrs. Sparkes, Matthews and Hoare; records clerk, Mr. Galbraith; Emergency Committee, Messrs. Tilly, Redmond, Galbraith, Hoare and Carr. Members pointed out that much of the committee’s time was wasted interviewing players who attended meetings seeking reinstatement or transfers. A study of the union rules showed that it was essential for the committee to see the players, but the difficulty was solved by a decision to grant interviews at 12.30 and 1.30 during the lunch hour. Ground officials for Saturday were appointed as follow: Manukau, Mr. Hay way; Victoria Park, Professor Bartrum; Otahuhu, Sturgess Park, Mr. Muir. A permanent official is to be found for the Showgrounds. Mr. H. Frost presided over the meeting.
