ENGINEER FACES THEFT CHARGE REMANDED FOR WEEK A preference for trial by the Supreme Court resulted in a remand being made at the Police Court this morning when John Francis McCarthy was charged with stealing engine fittings valued at £SO belonging to Frederick Appleton. The offence was said to have taken place at Takapuna last June. It was mentioned that McCarthy, an engineer, aged 37, was at present serving a term of six months’ imprisonment which had been imposed on him yesterday following his conviction on a charge of theft. The remand was made for one week.
