Vivian who, ; with Mrs. Vivian, is away on holiday. | The Taumarunui Girls’ Bible Class Union held a fancy dress party in the ; Theatre Royal annex, a large number !of children attending in original fancy costumes. Games and compei titions rounded out a pleasant programme. The judging of the costumes was done by Mrs. Arthur and Mrs. L. i Borck, and resulted:—Girls. Barbara Mills (Irish Colleen), 1: Edna Dunn 1 (Chinese Girl). 2: boys, Alan MacPher- : son (Chinese Boy), 1 : Barry Munro (Little Gentleman), 2. Prizes for the winners were donated by Mrs. A. E. Tomlinson. * * * A very pleasant social evening was j held at the residence. Bank of New | South Wales, Matiere, numerous guests ’ enjoying a well-arranged programme. Songs were given by Mrs. Longley and Airs. Mulvihill, and Master H. Fauchelle gave a recitation. The music, a special feature of the gathering, was provided by an orchestra consisting of Mrs. Mulvihill (piano), Messrs. N. Dillimore (banjo). J. Ross (saxophone), i A. Ross (banjo ukulele), and Gold.ring ! (saxophone). Supper was served toward midnight, the function being dei dared one of the most pleasant held : in the locality. Airs. R. F. Harris was the guest of honour at a party at her residence, arranged by Mesdames C. R. Murray and ; M. H. Wilks, who proved as usual , very popular hostesses. Mrs. Harris has kindly placed he.r excellent tennis } lawn at the disposal of her friends ; during the season, and it was a mark of appreciation for this graceful act . that prompted the arranging of the afternoon's function. During the proceedings a doubles tournament was 1 played, the winners being Mesdames A. E. Seaton and H. Brinkman, both of whom received trophies donated by | the hostesses.
