WITH SIMPLE CEREMONY

LADY NGATA’S FUNERAL (Special to THE SUN) GISBORNE, To-day. The funeral of the late Lady Ngata at Tikitiki yesterday was attended by Maoris from the Waiapu and neighbouring districts, together with a number of Europeans representing rhe various organisations with which Lady Ngata had been connected. The coffin was carried to the historic marae of the Ngatiporou tribe with simple ceremony. Masses of floral emblems were laid upon the bier, showing the affection and respect of her race. A service was conducted by the Rev. Pine Tamahori, with the assistance of other native clergymen, at the Memorial Church near the marae.
