Round the Churches
At both the usual services in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Parnell, to-moriuw Canon Percival James will preach. This evening a confirmation service will be held by his Grace, the Archbishop, and at S a.m. to-morrow a special Communion service will be held for the newly confirmed. The Rev. G. R. Monteith will preach at the morning service in St. Matthew's, Wellesley Street, to-morrow. In the evening Canon Grant Cowcn will conduct the service. Special services will be held oji Anzac Day. A special service will be held at the Edendale Presbyterian Church to-mor-row for the unveiling of the honour roll of those who were killed in th»Great War. Sir Harry Lauder will be present and will speak. In the evening the monthly Young People’s Night will be held, and the Rev. W. Gilmour will preach. The Rev. J. Pattison will preach at both services in the Somervell Church. • * * At 3 p.m. to-morrow in the Unity Hall Dr. W. H. Pettit will speak on “Evolution” or “Ape-man-ism in the Schools.” * * • Mr. Andrew Johnstone will conduct the morning service in the Grange Road Baptist Church to-morrow. He will also preach at the evening service on “The Passing Summer.” * * * The Rev. George Jackson, a Congrcgationalist minister, will hold a community mission in the Capitol Theatre, Dominion Road, to-morrow evening. Th 6 subject of the address will be “Is Religion Necessary?” The Methodist Central Mission will hold the usual Sunday evening service in the Strand Theatre to-morrow evening. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour will preach on “The Man Who tSole.” The film shown will be “Storied Jcrusalem." ... The Franklin Road Methodist Church will hold anniversary services at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to-morrow. The Rev. N. P. Larsen will conduct the first, the Rev. A. Mitchell the second, and the Rev. N. P. Larsen the third. .11l services will be musical. * * * Anzac remembrance services will b held at St. John’s Methodist Church. Ponsonby Road, to-morrow mornin and evening. Both will be conduct' ll by the Rev. Arthur Mitchell. The First Church of Christ, Scientist, will hold services at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to-morrow. The subject of the addresses will be “The Doctrine of Atonement.” • • • The Progressive Church of Spiritualists. Newmarket, will meet at 7 p.m. to-morrow. An address will be given on the subject, ‘ffhere are no Dead.” The Young Men’s Brotherhood will hold a meeting in the Y.M.C.A. at 4.3 4 p.m. to-morrow. The Rev. T. Haliiday will give an address. The Spiritual Scientists’ Church will sold a meeting at 7 p.m. to-morrow. Mrs. Harris-Roberts will give an address on “From Tent to Sanctuary.” A service will be conducted in th*> New Church, Newton Road, to-morrow morning by Mr. H. R. Hyatt.
