ENGINEERING CHANGES
CITY COUNCIL SCHEME The engineering department of the City Council has been divided into sections which will be under the control of different engineers. The rearrangement was set out as follows in a recommendation which the council adopted at its meeting on Thursday. (a) Office administration, town-plan-ning and architecture, to be under the direct control of the city engineer. (b) Waterworks, to be under a waterworks engineer, this department to undertake design, constructional works and maintenance, of the whole of the city’s waterworks undertakings. It is recommended that Mr. A. D. Mead be appointed to the position of waterworks engineer. (c) Streets (construction and maintenance), and sanitation, also to comprise drainage, plumbing and inspection and the various detailed services connected therewith, and that the officer in charge be designated streets and sanitation engineer.
