“THE PLAY GIRL” AT ROYAL

Madge Bellamy never had a better role than that of Madge Logan In “The Play Girl/' no\V at the Royal Theatre, Ivingsland. She is a little 1 shop girl, who craves society and beautiful clothes, a common failing. At the opening of the story Madge loses her job because of her ready wit and a crabby boss, a combination that j sometimes proves disastrous. However, she meets two young men who endeavour to show her the town. One shows her via a limousine, while j the other believes in doing the town via the footpaths in good old pedestrian style. Pretty soon her shoes give out and the limousine gets in a good day’s work. A second big picture is shown in the powerful Emil Janning’s drama. •'The Way of All Flesh,” a story laid in modern America. The scope of the talking picture will not be limited to straight drama, | for at the present time plans are j completed for the launching of an en- j tire musical comedy in sound at the j Paramount studios on Long Island. The “talkie” musical comedy, however, will not be confined to the few scenes which are generally used in j stage productions of that type. Motion picture treatment will make pos- j sible a vast variety of settings and a much gi'eater freedom of action. The talking picture musical comedy ; is titled “The Cocoanuts,” and stars ; the “Four Marx Brothers.” famous I performers on Broadway musical \ comedy and vaudeville stages. Another important role has been | assigned to Mary Eaton, the star of ; “The Five O Clock Girl.” another ■ popular Broadway hit. Production on "The Cocoanuts" will begin in the i near future
