Later Results will be found In the Stop Press as they come to hand OFF TO SYDNEY DALSTON AND BECALMED A further indication that the Australian turf is rapidly becoming a popular rendezvous with New Zealand owners and trainers was evident today, when the Waikato sportsman, Mr. H." Birch, shipped two of his horses, Dalston and Becalmed, by the Marama for Sydney. Perception was another horse on board. No definite programme has been arranged for the pair, but probably they will race at suburban meetings, and then participate in the spring carnival at Randwick. However, the Randwick fixture is no less than six months off, and possibly it will depend on the progress shown by Dalston and Becalmed during the interim whether they will remain on the other side for so long a sojourn. It would appear, too, as if Mr. Birch’s horses have splendid prospects across the Tasman, for both have shown their ability, particularly Dalston, and it will be a matter l'or surprise to sportsmen if neither returns without some stake-money. After a good spell at Mr. J. T. Jamieson’s property at Takanini. the three-year-old Perception is being sent back to Sydney, where he is now owned. Perception is in good healthy order for the return journey, and is fit to commence, a preparation for spring racing.
WANGANUI TROTS FINAL DAY’S SPORT ACCEPTORS AND PROSPECTS (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, To-day. i The Wanganui Trotting Club’s carnival will reach finality to-morrow, when another splendid day’s sport will be provided. More interest than usual is being taken in the fixture, which is gratifying to the club and will ensure the function reaching a sue-, cessful issue. The club's innovation in having a review broadcast by the Auckland Sun representative from a Wanganui broadcasting station proved highly successful, and will be repeated to-night. Good fields will provide interesting racing to-morrow. The following should be well supported in their respective engagements: Improvers’ Handicap—Rita Thorpe, Highland Derby, Lee Nelson, Eleawah, Pumehaka, Oliver Thorpe and Lady Author all have good prospects, but the prime fancies should be Oliver Thorpe and Lee Nelson. Borough Handicap.—Bessie Bingen, Le Campione, Octachord. Haviland’ Carwood and Ben Bingen appear to have the best prospects, with most support forthcoming for Bessie Bingen and Octachord. Suburban Handicap.—Mild Derbv, Pliton, All Red, El Direct and Bright Light will all receive good support, but the favourites may be Bright Light and Fliton. Liverpool Handicap.—This will provide a. keen race, with Native Hero, Logan’s Pride, Hilltop, Haerenga Pai, Hostess, Sailor Boy and Great Delight in the picture. Fancies will probably be Haerenga Pai, Great Delight and Logan’s Pride. Stewards Handicap (saddle). —Our Nancy must rule favourite, with Waitepopo next best choice. Ballance Handicap.—Carwood, the Wild Downs-Peter Eyre bracket, A 1 - tonbroolc, Laurier and Bright Light will be in demand, with most support for Laurier and Bright Light. Wanganui Stakes. — Little Guy and El Direct will be the public fancies, probably in that order. Farewell Handicap.—A good pool should see Logan’s Pride, Castle Chimes, Warspite, Enawah, Sailor Boy, Haerenga Pai, Our Nancy and Cora Tacks in the picture, but the favourites will be Logan’s Pride and Warspite.
