WIFE’S SURPRISE VISIT

SOLICITOR TAXED WITH MISCONDUCT JUDGE GRANTS DIVORCE On grounds of her husband's misconduct with a woman unknown, Annie Jane Scantlebury (Mr. Bennett), petitioned Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court this morning for dissolution of her marriage with Percival John Scantlebury, solicitor, Auckland (Mr. Inder). TN evidence petitioner said the marriage took place in Wellington in 1909. The two lived some time in Dunedin and later in Auckland. There was one child. “In consequence of suspicions I made a call at my husband’s office on the evening of December 12 last, in company with a friend and his wife,’’ said Mrs. Scantlebury. "We arrived about 9 o’clock and found the office in darkness and the door locked. “By breaking- the glass of the door we gained admission, and flashing a light saw my husband with a youngwoman. Both looked startled. I said. ‘I have caught you at last: I will communicate with you through my solicitor.’ ” Corroborative evidence was given by a witness of the incident. His Honour granted a decree nisi to be made absolute after three months, with costs against respondent on the lower scale.
