Press Association) WASHINGTON, Tuesday. The condition of winter wheat in the grain-producing States on April 1 was fathigher than a year ago. The Agriculture Department announced to-day that the condition at that date was 82.7 for winter wheat and 84.9 for rye, compared with 68.8 and 79.3 respectively a year ago and with the 10-year average at the same date of 50.9 and 85.2. Oats on April 1 were 51.2, compared with 70.4 last year. To-day’s report indicates that there will be a. winter wheat crop of 591.312,000 bushels this year against 568,000,000 indicated on December 1. 1925, and the final 1928 crop of 578,964,000 bushels.
