W.E.A. SEASON OPENS

FIRST LECTURE NEXT WEEK MORE NEW CLASSES The first class in this season's programme of the ‘Workers’ Educational Association •will be held in the Old Grammar School building on Mondav evening. This will be the French Literature class under Miss D. L. Miller, and the other classes will begin during the week. As usual the classes have been planned with great care to meet the growing interest which is shown in them. Several changes have been made in the staffing of the association and three new classes have been instituted. Of these new classes the one in French literature, conducted by Mis* Miller, is the first; one in advanced economics dealing with currency and banking, conducted by Professor Belshaw, is the second: and one on Art and Life, by Mr. F. N. Bamford, is th« third. Classes which are being continued from last year are those on the Modern Drama, under Mr. J. W. Shaw; the English Novel, under the Rev. V. Jellie; Economics, under Mr. H. R Rodwell; Anthropology, under Mr. G. Archey; Psychology, under Mr. H. Becroft; Music, under Mr. H. Hollinrake: International Relations. under the Rev. W. Monckton, and Nature Study, under Professor Sperrin Johnstone. These lectures will be held in the Grafton Library Rail, the Old Gram* mar School, and the Biology Theatre. University Science Building. In adaption to these 12 lectures will be given in the Devonport Borough Council Chambers on Tuesdays by Mr. N. W Richmond on “The Modem Age.” On Thursday in the Takapuna Gas Company’s showrooms, Mr. D. W. Faigan will give 12 lectures on Modern Short Stories and One-act Plays. Two public lectures have also been arranged—one on “Industrial Conditions in Britain,” bv Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., and one entitled “A Natural* 1 in Latin America,” by Professor Sperrin Johnstone. Several lectures, also, will be broadcast.
