TROTTERS AT WANGANUI
TRAINING FOR SATURDAY FINAL WORK THIS MORNING (Special to THE SUN) WANG AN UI, To-day. A good attendance of spectators at: the Wanganui racecourse this morning witnessed the final work of the large number of horses exercised, but few did any special service. Great Delight gave a splendid exhibition over 12 furlongs and the Taranaki Cup winner will take a power of beating to-morow. Logan’s Pride pleased onlookers by infusing dash into his 10-furlong effort, and made many friends. Warspite was lame after his workout, corns being the root of the trouble. All Red handled the track better than at New Plymouth, and promises to break the ice here. Our Nancy (saddle.) showed brilliancy over a mile and Hilltop was pleasing over two circuits. Eli Wells gave Castle Chimes solid work, and she has come into favour for to-morrow’s engagements. Skipper Price’s maiden trotter, Bessie Bingen, sister to Great Bingen and Co., created a fine impression with an even trot over 12 furlongs. The mare promises to be a good favourite to-morrow. The two-year-old, Eleawah, went nicely over 10 furlongs, making many friends. Peter Eyre trotted two miles in good style and Altonbrook made no mistakes over a similar journey. Enawah bowled along smartly over a mile and is coming right. Trumpeter and both in saddle, were seen to advantage in a mile dash, while Native Hero went a mile and a-half impressively, although he would prefer the sting out of the ground.
