BOARD NOT WANTED

IMPROVING MARTON LANDS SUGGESTIONS USELESS (Special to THE SUN) MARTON, Tuesday. At the annual meeting of the Marton branch of the Farmers' Union Mr. G. L. Marshall advocated that the Deteriorated Hands Board be abolished. "The members are paid £2 a day to give advice to the settlers which cannot be carried out through lack of money,” he added. “A ton or two of fertiliser would be of more assistance than the board.” Mr. Marshall pointed out that the board was given so much publicity that the idea had grown that all the land in the area was deteriorated. Owners of the good land often had difficulty in renewing a mortgage because of the prejudice. A remit urging the abolition of the board was carried unanimously.
